Hi there,

Is it safe to set up my Mac so that my girlfriend can access her account on my machine from her powerbook via the internet?

I remember reading somewhere that this was a big security risk although as far as I know the password isn't sent in clear text.

What is the most secure and easiest way to share files across the net?

So long as you've got personal file sharing enabled, she should be able to log in as her username and mount her home folder on her laptop, so long as she knows the ip address of your machine. If you're behind a router or firewall, you'll have to open port 548.

I log in to my home machine from work all the time by using the Go> Connect to Server... menu in the finder. It's really too simple.
