I will be ditching my PC and switching to a powerbook in the next week or so. I have a question about the software that will come pre-installed. When you buy a PC, it usually comes with TONS of horrible, worthless garbage (online services, horrible cd-burning software, etc etc) -- will my powerbook also come with lots of garbage? Would doing a clean install of OSX get rid of all the garbage, or will it come from the factory with ONLY a clean install of OSX?

Thanks!
Chris

It comes preloaded with some software that is useful and isn't garbage. The only thing I can think of that's garbage preinstalled is the MS Office X trial Any preinstalled apps you don't want are easy to trash. The Omnigroup apps that come with the system are extremely useful. Check out http://www.apple.com/powerbook/software.html and it shows exactly what comes preinstalled.

There will be a little garbage as stated above, but I would say about 1/100 as much as a typical PC. All of the iApps are nice... iTunes is probably worth at least $49.99 (if not more)...

Welcome to the fold... you won't regret it.
