Hi all,
I tried to get Gerben Weirda's Latex installation working on panther, and it doesn't seem to work with TexShop. When I open TexShop I'm unable to create a new document. I installed all of the latex stuff from the i-installer. Does anyone have any advice? I can't switch to panther if Latex doesn't work

Try iTexMac if it doesn't work with that either... then I'll panic [hold back on buying Panther] coz I really need LaTeX.

Make sure you set the preferences to use the LaTeX you have installed.

Use Fink. The website says there's no 10.3 support (yet) but I've been using many stable packages fine (including LaTeX).

When I start up TexShop, I get this on the console:

2003-10-13 12:48:28.921 TeXShop[807] *** -[NSPlaceholderMutableString initWithString:]: nil string (or other) argument

So, do you think that it's just TexShop's fault, not latex's? I hope so! (well, sortof...)

So you said that fink works?

There's an updated version of texshop for panther posted on the texshop web page - http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop/texshop.html (there was apparently some trivial incompatibility with a cocoa routine that removes spaces from filenames).
