No...I do not have it yet, but here is a question to people who have it.

I have lot of messages in my mail box, lot of settings as far as application registration and such go. With Panther being much better (hopefully) than Jaguar, I would like to do a clean install saving as many of my prefs and mail as possible.

Will there be an option to somehow install a clean version of Panther, not an update of 10.2.8, and still keep my mail settings and applications setups?

I remember something like Archive and Install from previous OS versions, but I have never used it and curious if that will be possible under Panther.

Thanks,

t

Without a doubt, Archive and Install is the best way to install any operating system. When you select the HD for it to be install, make sure you press the button "Options", and from that dialog choose Archive and install, leaving the "Preserve user preferences and network setting" checkbox on. After using the system for a while (to check if you didn't forgot to move any files you might have installed in /Library (as opposed to ~/Library). Examples: Screen savers and fonts available to all users.
