I recently upgraded my iMac 233 from OS 10.2.6 to OS 10.2.8 and it now goes into a deep sleep while working on it (usually on the internet or email). The only way to get it to come back to life is to unplug it and then reboot. Is there a fix for this? I installed the 10.2.8 fix posted on the Apple site but no luck. Any suggestions? Is the only option to start from the original OS X CD and do the upgrades to OS 10.2.6. It seemed to work fine in OS 10.2.6.

I own a iMac 233, and it doesnt have deep sleep, it wasnt around then. It's sleep is just turning its monitor & hard drive off. Try unplugging/replugging the keyboard and see if it helps. Try zapin' the PRAM. And for these reasons I really think apple should provide a downgrader. There actually is such a thing as a downgrader whenever theres a 10.2.x beta floating around.

Thanks for the advice. I have reset the pram and things seem to be ticking along. Hopefully it will continue to work as I hate to go through the hastle of reinstalling.

Guess I spoke too soon. Used the computer for a 1/2 hour or so last night with no problems. It then went to sleep by itself and then when I tried to wake it ... dead. The screen and the hardrive stay inactive until you unplug the computer. Back to square one and will have to reinstall the system back to 10.2.6 at this point.
