I am running OS X and I have adobe Premiere 6.5. I have set the scratch disk to be my external firewire drive. When I start the movie capture the computer freezes and the pennwheel just turns and turns. I have to force quit Premiere to regain control of the computer. When I set my internal mac drive as the scratch disk everything works fine. What gives.
