Like reported in another thread (iTunes lags) my Comp tends to freeze from time to time completely. Especially under heavy system load but what happened twice - last time when typing in iChat - is my mousepointer being stuck. Everything works (even right-click for context menu!) but I couldn't get it back and had to reboot the first time. Second time now I could get it to move by killing the Finder (which reloads so quickly under Panther).

It's not a trick, it's an Apple...

- Do you have third-party mouse drivers installed?

Throw them out until they're updated for Panther.

- Did you just upgrade over a previous developer build?

Back up everything, erase your hard drive, and reinstall Panther. Upgrading previous developer builds will leave unfinished crap in there, with unforseeable results.

I have the same problem with my revolution 7.1 driver. Maybe some device driver. Try removing one by one and check. Re-install if required

No, neither another device driver (plug and play, remember...) nor old developer builds.

This is a Panther-only "feature" so it seems.

What happens if you unplug your mouse, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in again?

I had a similar problem in panther but with this one, I could move the mouse, but everything else was frozen... no clicks, (clock stopped moving)... only happens on my g5. Mainly happens in apps ported from unix, so I assume there is something low level that is getting f$#@ed

This is happening to me too on my new dual.
It has a store bought panther installed on it.
No mouse drivers. Everything clean.

For me there seems to be a connection with waking from sleep.

Yep. Since I switched off Energy Saver - screen sleeping it never happened again. I never allowed my comp to go to sleep.
