Hi simple question . How do I get files off of a Bondi Blue iMac and on to a brand new iMac OSX ?

thery both have fire wire. And I thought that it would just see it as a hard drive. But no.

How can I use an iMac as a hard drive. Or let OSX see the os9 in the network.

Or whatever. ! My ipod can not handle the file sizes.of the OS9 files.

start up the old iMac in firewire target disk mode by holding the "T" key down during startup.

This will cause the computer to behave as though it was just a hard disk enclosure with a firewire connection. You will get a simple screen with a firewire logo on it.

This information is readily available in the Mac Help Viewer by searching for "firewire target disk mode".

Bondi blue iMacs (Rev A + B) did NOT have Firewire.

IIRC, the slot-loading iMacs were the first with Firewire; these were not available in Bondi blue - though in Blueberry.

OS X can't see OS 9 in the network, but OS 9 can see OS X. Try AppleTalk in the other direction, using the Chooser in OS 9.

Target disk mode is only supported in Macs with native FireWire, IIRC.
