I am having a problem with my aol. When I open my aol program and sign on after about 2 mins the program shuts itself down. I tried deleting all the files that I thought were associated with it and then downloaded the program again and installed it again. Even with this new program installed I am still having this same problem. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Thanks for any help.

Which OS version?

If you're running Panther, forget it. I hear AOL is not compatible yet. It might be when Panther is officially released.

Have you recently put up firewall software such as Impasse? I've found that AOL seems to have trouble with some firewalls. Are you getting any strange error messages?

I haven't made any kind of changes at all. It just started out of the blue. The only error message that I am getting is the one you get when a program shuts itself down.

You mean when it crashes, aka "unexpectedly quits"?

You can open the application "Console" which is in your utilities folder and enable both "Enable crash reporting" and "Automatically display crash logs" in Console's preferences. The next time an application crashes, a crash log with detailed information will be shown.
Fully quote the latest crash log for here (they have a time stamp so you'll see where the one with the latest crash starts). Someone might get a clue from the crash log what might be wrong.

Standard troubleshooting includes:

• Delete app's prefernces
• Create brand new user and see if problem exists there. If not, hunt for the culprit in the original user's Library folder.
• Ask around if someone sees something suspicious in the crash log.
• Do an Archive and Install.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.
