I'm a new mac user and your help is appreciated. I have the new 15 inch albook. I wanted to wipe all data off the machine and do a clean reinstall. I started the machine holding the c key down with the OS X CD. After restarting I found that all my data was still there!
How do I reformat everything and restore the machine back to factory setting?

In one of the installer menus you will find Disk Utility, you need to use that to format the partition and then continue the install as normal.

Another option for you is, I believe, to select the custom option in the install sequence to erase and re-install.
