I've decided not to buy Synergy just yet because it seems to be having some trouble loading cover art.
And this leads me to the question of how to remove programs like Synergy from the System Preferences. I have a few programs in there I'd like to rid myself of...
Thanks

They should be in /Library/PreferencPanes or ~/Library/PreferencePanes. Trash them.

Actually, the trash is telling me that Synergy cannot be deleted because it cannot be deleted...and other's are telling me they're owned by 'root'...so in short nothing's leaving...work around?
also, Hey look! I'm a member...

actually this does not apply to the programs in the PrefPanes of my Home folder...they went easy.
The programs in my root PrefPanes are the ones giving me trouble..

The Synergy thing might still be in use so you need to reboot before you can empty the trash with it.
Repair privileges first!
You can change the ownership of the others to you in the Finder's Get Info dialog. You probably have to apply to enclosed files and folders. That should allow you to trash the preference pane.
Never trash anything inside the System folder however!

Repair privileges with Disk Utility.

I can trash the contents but not the folder within the PrefPanes...So I'm left with an icon in my System Preferences that does nothing.
I've changed the ownership to me and the access, but it's still telling me that they cannot be deleted.
edit: Never mind, I got it now.

Set the privileges for the PreferencePanes folder to owner:system,r/w and group:admin, r/w
Then as an admin you should be able to trash stuff inside that folder.
