I called 1-800-MY-APPLE to see if I could use standard shipping and get Mac OS X Panther on Friday, and she said probably. I said well I'm not sure if I want to order it now on the phone or get it at the store on Friday. She persuaded on how it would be better to order it on the phone, and then she said "but it's up to you." I said, in a joking manor (anyone could tell) "well it just seems like your pressuring me to get it now, hah" and she gets into a pissed tone and says "I'M NOT PRESSURING YOU!" and then you hear her say something like "thank you for calling the" and she hangs up.

The phone sales people get commissions on sales which probably was why your salesperson pressured you.

I called with the same question you had. My salesperson checked and said that I would still get 10.3 on the 24th, even if I used standard shipping. When he asked if I would like to place an order now, I replied that I was already in the process of placing an order online. He asked if I wouldn't mind placing the order with him because he would get a commission on the sale.

Having part of your salary come from commissions can really suck, so I decided to place the order over the phone.

Especially when their phone calls are being recorded.

Sometimes they will cut you a nice deal, throw in some freebies, etc., so it's always a good idea to order by phone, IMO.

Aww jeez, my bad memory, I asked her if she worked on commision and thats when she hung up.
