I have a new mac Dual 1.24 PowerMac (about a week) and just set it up. It is running Mac OSX Server 10.2.8 w/ 768 MB RAM.

When I was changing the permissions on a folder, inside my home folder, I noticed that the owner had some strange font characters. It was mixed with roman and japanese fonts ending with (Me).

I looked at the other options listed in the owner menu and they are all fine (roman). I looked at the Groups' menu and Others' menu and they are fine.

This is not just this one file but all files. No other fonts or text throughout the system are show this anomaly.

What is even stranger is if I have the get info window open with permissions displayed and click the the desktop to deactivate the info window and click back. The fonts change to other strange characters. This will continue until they begin to repeat.

Anyone know what is causing this. It may have something to do with Another error I am having that started a couple of days ago. My login times (get to desktop from login window) now take 2 mintues. this is with one user setup.

Any info is appreciated.

Yeah I have that problem on my machine too. I contemplated posting here asking about it but never got around to it. Anyway it has been like it for some time and I've never had any issues, nor have I ever repaired permissions so I don't think it is anything to worry about.
