I posted something on this long ago, but I find it irritating that you can choose to put last name first for your iChat buddy list/address book, but cannot have a comma there. This isn't large, but would be really easy to fix (still not fixed in Panther). Here are your choices: However, you should have a choice to have: Am I alone in this? Lastname, Firstname is a global standard, or at least I thoguht so. I know it's little, so don't bite my head off, I just wanted to raise the issue or find out if perhaps I've just had user error over the year and a half I've used Address Book.

Why don't you just add the comma yourself? Works just fine that way.

Make it so that a last name is defined as "Jobs," ? I suppose I could mess up the field and do it that way, but his last name is not "Jobs,". I can't imagine anyone using lastname firstname without a comma, many people appear to have two first names, when one is the last, how are you to know? Why not just add the comma as part of the preference?

Add the comma? Where? The Address Book has no place for the comma. If you add it to the end of the last name (for the sake of printing out address lists), then for other uses, you'll end up with a comma where it shouldn't be.
I find this an irritating problem too. I printed my first Panther Address Book phone and address list yesterday and was less than impressed.
The comma problem is a fairly trivial thing that I can let slide, but the whole process of printing a simple address and phone list is rather cumbersome. The print dialogue does not remember settings either so I have to go through the whole rigmorole every time I want to do it.
I've got to unselect the fields I don't want, and select the fields I do want, and every time I make one little change, it takes a long time to update the preview before I can make another change. It doesn't even remember the paper size!
This really should be a simple process, but Apple have let us down a bit with this one.

I just edited the template to add the option of "Middle Name" and made those the comma's....I don't see where it presents any problems anywhere else in the system...

Well, that does help in Address Book, but, I want to use a Middle name: "Jobs, Steven P." I thought I'd just not mention that to keep it simpler. You bring up a good point though, if we can add fields, why not customize the layout as well?
