I just did an archive install in hopes of solving some disk issues I was having...and now I have a "Previous System" folder hanging around taking up some valuable disk space.
How long should I hold onto it i.e. when is it safe to delete it?
Thanks.
(also, Applecare told me to completely erase my disk and reinstall everything, but I thought I'd try and archive install first. Anyone know what my chances are for it running smoothly from now on?)
Thanks again.

Not really knowing anything about your system or the problem you were experiencing (BIG disclaimer), Archive and Install is generally a good thing to try before completely reformatting and reinstalling. The only time this wouldn't be true is if your livelihood is reliant on your Mac's uptime or something (I'm guessing here it may not be). My roommate's PowerBook stopped booting a few weeks ago and AppleCare told him the same thing. I did an Archive and Install for him, and he's been cruising along just fine ever since.

I would hold onto that Previous System folder for at least a week or two. Make absolutely sure things are working well before you remove it. In the several Archive and Installs I've done, I have yet to really need anything out of that folder, but just for insurance sake I generally keep it around for a couple of weeks.

alright the Archive and install didn't work out...my Powerbook worked well for an hour or so, but then crashed again. So I'm backing up and going to format the hard drive tomorrow...
