Greetings!

I have everything organized/ready for doing a clean install of Panther.

I'm trying to think of a way to successfully do a clean install of Panther, while keeping the music/mp3s/aac from iTunes in Jaguar, and bringing it over to Panther [maintaining playlists, etc.]

a) Am I suppose to just copy my iTunes preference file and music?

b) Or do I just backup the iTunes music directory [which contains the xml file]?

??? thanks

i put my entire Music-library onto my iPod, plus music stored elsewhere. then i replaced the old Music-folder and put the other music exactly where it was before.

everything was intact.

the way to go!

All you need is an external firewire hard disk big enough to hold your Music folder (and any other folders containing music).

One note....I have a "main" music computer that does most ripping from CDs. I like to have this synched on my laptop, including the playlists and such that are made on the ripping machine. I did this:

1) copy to external firwire drive music folder and iTunes library.

2) copy ONLY library to PB music folder

3) launch iTunes.

iTunes automatically "knew" that all of the music was on the firewire drive. I was suprised by this, but it's true...Library on PB...music on external.
