Hi, just a quick question before I install Panther - would I be able to boot back into OS 9 if I wanted to?

This does not mean running Classic mode - I am referring to going into the Startup Disk control panel, choosing an OS 9 system folder and restarting back into 9.

I am assuming it will work, can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance.

If you can boot into OS9 before you install 10.3 and assuming you do not erase your hard drive when you install 10.3, then yes, you will still be able to boot into OS 9

I'm going to move OS 9 to a separate partition, but will erase everything else to do a clean reinstall.

Anyone out there currently using Panther who wouldn't mind testing out if OS 9 is indeed supported?

Thanks.

Uh, your computer's support for OS 9 will not change with Panther. If your computer can boot OS 9 now, it can boot OS 9 forever. It's not a case of Panther supporting OS 9 booting, that makes no sense.

It's true. If your computer can boot into OS 9 now, nothing will change. Have faith.

I had faith and went ahead with the install on my Power Mac G4/733 "Digital Audio" machine. Works great and boots into OS 9 as well with no problems. Thanks for the help.
