Ok. Panther is up and running on the Powerbook. And I have used Directory Access to join it to the Active Directory at work. It says it is joined just fine.
Now the problem...How do I log in? I've tried a few different formatted usernames, and can't find the proper format. The help files never show a user account, but do show DOMAIN\Group for the groups.

I just tried setting up 10.3 for Active Directory, and am so close to getting this figured out. I set it up, the computer binded to AD. I restarted and logged in locally, and did the lookupd -d ting to see if I could see AD user info. Sure enough, I can. I logged out, and logged in as the admin account with which I used to set up binding, and lo and behold, I was able to log in! 10.3 set up a new user directory for that user. I logged out, and tried logging in as myself, regular user, and it did not work. Kinda bummed, so I thought I would see if anyone else had this problem. Weird that it lets me on as a superuser, but not as a regular user.

Okay, so try checking out /Library/Preferences/DirectoryService/ActiveDirectory.plist
There's a lot in there, and is kinda tough to figure out, but it might hold some secrets.

Have you looked at the AD articles at MacDevCenter?
I read through some of it out of curiosity, but I'm not on an AD network, so I can't really test it.

You'll have to create a user in your Active Directory Domain in Windows exactly like your home directory user on Panther. Example: my user name in Panther is "cafero" I haved to create a user in the Domain your triying to connect "cafero".
Hope it'll help.
