Anyone have any experience with performance compared with the two above mentioned installation methods.

Since I have been using this Ti 1Ghz since it came out last Nov., I would prefer to just upgrade. However, if there is significant performance to be gained, I can back up my /home drive and then reinstall some apps I guess...

Anyway, just looking for some input. Thanks

Check the other threads on the subject. I'd recommend at least an archive and install since you've been using the machine for a year. Others might think it unnecessary.

Is it possible to archive and install AND reformat the H/D? I can't back up my third party apps. and don't really want to find and download them all again. I partitioned with 10.2 and want the space back as I don't use Classic at all anymore. Thanks in advance.
W....liar or idiot? Pick two.

No, it's not. Sorry, you're stuck with that partition until you can backup and erase the whole disk.

I just did an archive and install with no apparent problems. I did have to reinstall a couple of things like my powermate drivers, but my settings and programs seem intact.

Archive and Install. If weirdness persists, create new user and test.
Don't upgrade, as there are too many things that will cause you problems. Some of them can be bad!!
Worse case is copy ~/Library/Preferences to a new folder. Log out and back in and create new prefs for everything. Add back contents from original Preferences folder as needed.
