I'm now getting the endless pinwheel if I try to change network prefs (use dhcp and not manual, etc). If I make any change and hit apply, the pinwheel starts and the apply button never de-activates.

Any tips? I also do not know where the network prefs are stored (which plist file?) so I haven't been able to nuke the prefs yet.

I've found the file that is causing this, but I don't have a source for a replacement, and the installation discs are at work.

If I remove the file, the prefpane won't launch at all. Unfortunately, if I remove it entirely and restart, it's not regenerated -- the system just loses all access to its network and modem devices.

So, could someone, ideally with a PBG4 DVI, preferably with AirPort, put a copy of /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist where it can be accessed? My plan is to use it to get the control panel working again and re-enter all the settings I want.

Or does anyone know how to generate a "virgin" copy of the file with tools that exist on the hard drive after installation?
