Panther comes with 3 installer disks. Well guess what? For some idiotic reason my disk 2 is the MacOSX Server disk and not Panther! disk 1 and disk 3 are Panther. This sucks big time!

What is on disk 2 and disk 3?

Can I install the Developer tools without without first installing disk 2 and disk 3?

What a freaky thing...

Yes, as Mr Blur said, you were not the only one. I spent about 2 hours on hold in order to talk to Apple about this. They are sending me a new disk 2, but it probably won't go out until Monday. They are sending it overnight, so I should see it Tuesday. I had already started the install before I noticed this, so I eventually just clicked cancel when it asked for disk 2. I was able to log in normally, and everything seems fine. I am missing printer drivers, which I think are on disk 2. I'm not sure what else is on there.

Same here.

I just cancelled. Just the extra apps would be on that disc.

Were iMovie and iPhoto updated with Panther or are they the Jag versions? I chose not to install iTunes. No fonts, etc. I think I was done anyway.

Don't appear to be any problems. I did an easy install/upgrade.

Yeah. I did an Archive and Install, and unfortunately forgot to do a custom install to remove some of the bloat (extra languages, epson printer drivers, etc). I'm not sure what would have been on the last disk. The Apple support guy told me I could put the good disk 2 in, when I get it, and run any individual installers I need. I think I already had most of it, but it would be nice to see a list of is on there.

Could any take a quick screen shot of the contents of disk 2 and post it?

Finnish.pkg
French.pkg
German.pkg
GimpPrintPrinterDrivers.pkg
HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg

For what its worth, I too forgot to remove the localizations from my installation. Mike Bombich, the author of Carbon Copy Cloner, makes a great app that deletes unused localization files. It can be found here. Said and done, after I ran that program, it freed up nearly a gigabyte of space!

Seeing that the server disk is worth (assumin the OS install disk) five times as much as Panther itself, why not sell it and make some easy dough?

Because it's useless without CD 1?
