How do you turn it off, I read in the Disk Utility, but its dimmed out to turn off journaling.

Unless you have a very good reason, I'd really suggest leaving journaling on. The performance impact is very slight, and occurs only when writing file system changes to disk, and the safety net it offers is useful.

As for how to turn it off, you probably can't turn it off via the GUI on the volume you started up from.
