I'm not really sure how I should install Panther. I have an iMac G4, 800MHz, I got about a year ago.

- What does Archive and Install really do? I have a folder at the root level of my hard drive that's very important - should I move it into my user folder to keep it?

- Will all my settings, serial numbers, etc. really have to be re-entered if I Archive and Install? That'll take a long time for me to copy over all those Library files I imagine...

- The big question: Does Archive & Install really do that much better than a regular Update Install? If someone could explain the real advantages, I'd be very grateful.

please.....there have been countless threads about this already. try searching *this* forum using "archive install" and you'll get your info.
