does anyone know what's on disc 3? i haven't installed it since the installation didn't ask for it.
oh, and does panther not include idvd? (maybe it's on the third disc...). i had it in jaguar, but did a clean install and now i lost it. i didn't think that it wouldn't be included if it came with my mac originally.

idvd is *not* included in panther, it is part of ilife and ships with superdrive-equipped macs. if you did a reformat install, then you will need to extract it from the software restore discs that your mac came with (search version tracker for "pacifist" to do this...) or re-install from your ilife cd.

That link didn't work for me, but the third CD just has additional asian fonts, printer drivers and X11. Pop in the CD and check it out...

Hmm, since pacifist is not Panther compatible, what other way can you install iDVD? I plan on doing a clean install, so there's no way to browse on the restore DVD to just the iDVD installer? I wonder what Apple's official method of getting iDVD back for those who wish to do clean installs.

since you have not done your install yet, why not use the tried and true method called "backing it up."

thanks
the link didn't work for me either. i was able to get pacifist to work on panther, but an error message keeps popping up. once i got through that though, i was unable to find idvd on the install and restore disc that came with my powerbook.

heh, stupid me, I still have my PC mentality of not being able to backup most programs easily like on the Mac.
flipz3, here's Apple's instructions on how to reinstall iDVD from your restore disk.
