Say what? It's been pegged at 100% for a couple of minutes. It did this about 30 minutes ago, and I killed it. After I restarted the Finder, about 10 minutes later, it is back to 100%.
How can I find out what it is doing? I'm using Panther, installed cleanly after a format. I don't know if this has happened before, but I had Activity Monitor up and running, and noticed.
I don't have any network drives attached, and my iDisk is set to synchronize manually.
Any help really appreciated...
thanks!

Hi,
I had the same problem with panther 7B85's Finder.
But my finder occupied 100 % CPU all the time it was openned, and every time !
I tried to use Path Finder for few day, and relauching finder sometimes for some reasons (by the way I found finder path very good but slow).
And few days after, I was surprised to see that everything was back to normal !
I still don't know how, but now since, it's ok.
I had also try to reinstall the system, but didn't change anything.
For the moment , just be patient !
bye

On my system, it is the automatic iDisk syncing that causes this. The thing seems to be syncing all the time, even when I haven't changed any files.
If you click on the iDisk in the left Finder panel, a progress bar will appear at the bottom of the Finder showing the state of syncing if it is in the middle of it. There is also a rotating indicator next to the iDisk icon.
If this is your problem, you can turn off iDisk syncing in the .Mac preference pane, iDisk tab.

Thanks Raining for the reply, but as I stated in my original post, iDisk syncing is set to Manual, so I don't think that is the issue. Regardless, I appreciate it, and I haven't seen this issue crop up in the last 24 hours, so maybe it was just a fluke..
