Exposé stuttering?

I'm running a dual1.25 with a stock Radeon (64MB) video card. Everything is smooth on Panther, much moreso than it was on Jaguar.

However, if I use Exposé to show all windows, or all application windows, and select one with the mouse, it stutters slightly in bringing it to the foreground.

However, if I cancel my Exposé action to return the desktop to its previous state, the animation is smooth. I am thinking that this is most likely because the coordinate transformations have already been done, and now would just need be reversed, where if I clicked on a window, the transformations would have to be recomputed to some degree.

What I'm wondering is, has anyone else experienced this on a similar HW setup? It's a minor irritant, nothing to get upset about. Just a little distracting when everything else is so smooth.

Hmm. I have a lowly G4/867 (with GeForce 4Ti gfx card), and Exposé is smooth as silk, both for decluttering and bringing one window to the foreground.

Smooth on an iBook G3 500Mhz, something is clearly wrong at your end.

How much RAM do you have in your machine? If the contents of some of your windows have been paged out to disk, then yes, it will stutter.

Past that, I don't know what to tell you.

I have a gig of stock Apple RAM. Also, I have noticed that only when I have a couple of apps open and things going on does this happen.

In other words, if I log in cleanly, open up 5 Finder windows, and start Exposé'ing, then no stuttering.
