When I click on the 'Network' icon in the finder's sidebar or open 'Network' via the GO menu, I get the following error:

'The alias "Network" cannot be opened, because the original item cannot be found.'

Any idea on how to get the alias pointing to the correct place?

I have the same problem, but only when I do a restart. If I log out and log back in or quit and restart the finder it works great. I have tried reinstalling, archive and install, and have tried enabling and disabling various networking protocols in directory access. Nothing seems to correct the problem on a permanent basis.
