My computer is a 450 MHz Sawtooth G4 upgraded recently by a Sonnet 800 MHz chip. I also have installed the Sonnet Tempo Trio, and attached an internal Maxtor DiamondMax 120 GB hard drive to it.

Before the hard drive, I would press the power button and the system would immediately go to deep sleep. After installing the hard drive (in 10.2.6), it would take about 10 seconds to go to deep sleep.

I upgraded to 10.2.8 (even with the fix) and when I woke my computer from deep sleep, the screen would be frozen. The clock would not be moving, and the computer would not accept inputs from my keyboard or mouse.

I assumed 10.3 would fix this, so I bought it and did a clean install. It included the deep sleep program in the upgrade.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening or tried to fix it before? Thanks.

Yes i have seen this problem sometimes. Make sure you installed all the updates from their website.

However i now have a similar problem where my mac won't go TO sleep at all with 10.3 and the Trio, it just stays on, on the black screen.
