Thanks,

In Panther it's:

System Preferences->International->Keyboard menu->Scrolldown until you see keyboard layout and enable it.
Then select Show Keyboard Layout from the keyboard menu in the menubar.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Awesome. I was getting ready to come post a link to a zipped Keycaps app that I yanked from a Jaguar build. I just got done with a client that was curious where her beloved Keycaps had gone.

Thanks for the tip, even if it was over a year ago.

Actually, the option is called Keyboard Viewer, not Keyboard Layout, and the tab to click on to get there is Input Menu, not Keyboard Menu. The correct steps to take are:

1. Open System Preferences.

2. Open the International preference pane.

3. Click the Input Menu tab.

4. Locate Keyboard Viewer and enable it.

5. Check the "Show input menu in menu bar" check box.

6. Select "Show Keyboard Viewer" from the menu that looks like a U.S. flag.

Now, wasn't that easy? No? I didn't think so either. Complain to Apple about it so they can make this more intuitive in Tiger:

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
