Hi !

Since I'm used to tcsh, I've changed my default shell from bash to tcsh using NetInfo in Panther. Now when I launch the Terminal, I no longer have a bash shell. However, Apple's X11 doesn't seem to notice the change I've made, and every xterm that I open starts a bash shell.

Could anyone help me ?

Thx in advance

I tried it and it worked. I did have to log out (of Panther) before it took effect. Just restarting X11 was not enough.

An alternative to changing the setting in NetInfo, for those who would rather not do so, is to custimze your X11 Applications menu to execute "xterm -e /bin/tcsh" (also change the xterm in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc or ~/xinitrc). You can also save a .term file in Terminal.app that is set up to execute tcsh (not executed in the default shell) when it is started. If you do it this way, you should also follow the directions in /usr/share/tcsh/examples/ as well as enter the following command in your ~/.cshrc or ~/Library/init/tcsh/rc.mine.

setenv SHELL /bin/tcsh

Changing the setting in NetInfo, however, is definitely the better way to go.
