If one is using a LCD monitor [laptop, studio display, etc.] what would be the best way to correctly calibrate a monitor [for web/print development] ..... ??? without using a calibration device like the Pantone spyder ... ??

I just did the "custom" calibration for my powerbook in the system preferences, but I'm not sure if it's "correct" since that's relatively subjective.

I'm unsure of how to get the best/accurate calibration ........ ??

thanks for any help!

SuperCal shareware can make incredibly accurate LCD profiles, if your'e willing to spend the time to make precise adjustment curves (divide basic curve in half repeatedly for more accuracy).

Depending on your Powerbook model some kind soul might have already gone out and made a profile for you. I have a 667DVI (for another week) and I'm using a profile from someone who posted theirs (might be at versiontracker.com, do a search for colour profile).

Well, g'luck finding a profile!

I assumed you've got a powerbook here... ohwell.
Yose.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Actually, I have a 667DVI as well

For people in the graphics industry, do they use the default calibrator that apple provides? or another method?

thanks

I found the default profile for my 12" powerbook (867) to be really yelllowish and gross, so I'm using RGB Color i think which is cooler, but not precise... but it does look really nice.

if anyone has a profile for a 12", please share it with me :p

This is the profile I made for my Pismo. It may be a good starting point.
