Help viewer keeps crashing for me - it just won't open at all. A possibly related problem is that if I try and view the documentation in X-Code the application crahes. Other WebKit apps work OK, so it can't just be that.

Anyone got any ideas ?

No answer, but I am also afflicted with the Help Viewer quitting without any fanfare. Safari works for me, and I have tried the obvious things, like deleting caches and so on. I'd be grateful for any other suggestions to cure me of the helplessness...

Found an answer on Apple's discussion forums. Turns out that certain files in the /Library/Documentation/Help folder cause Panther's Help Viewer problems. In my case, it was Virex7.help, but users in the Apple discussion forums also had problems with DataDirect.help (apparently installed with Filemaker). Once I deleted the offending help file, Help Viewer works again.
