I just did that too, now my screen looks brighter and the white really does look like white, not like grayish white. Very nice.

I do not seem to have an expert mode...

I feel cheap, I think I'll go take a shower.

It may not be new, but the way it works is. I had calibrated under all previous OS versions, but never got excellent colors like this. Much much better.

Curse my color-blind eyes.

I tried running this, and the result was weird.

I don't know how it works for the rest of you, but it doesn't work for me.

I can get to the Calibrator and Expert Preferences just fine, but moving the adjustment sliders gets no results (in either mode)... there is no change in the Apple image I'm supposed to view to judge and color/gamma/contrast changes. In the end, I'll get a new "calibrated" profile, but it is like literally a blind man making the profile — everything is off. Is this how it is supposed to work?

My machine is a Rev. B 667 TiBook G4 (non-DVI).

It is "expert mode", I use to work with images, photos, videos, lights and colors. And believe me this calibration tool is a great improvement.

But if you give me a Stradivarus the only good thing I could do with it would be getting peoples out of my house.

I tried it and my colours ended up blueish and washed out. I prefer the default profile !

True, true. I can play the piano fairly well, I think, but put me in front of any task requiring graphic/visual skills and I will screw it up big time. With my red-green colorblindness, all those Apple logos looked just right in the calibrator, but when it was done and I applied the profile, all of a sudden my entire screen was heavily tinted green.

Well I did the color correction in expert mode and at first I thought it ended up too blueish, but after using the profile I realized that the real thing si the default one had too much yellow. At least I feel a lot more comfortable with my calibrated one.

Sure you have to fine adjust the sliders with care, do it when you have spare time to waste.

"Expert Mode" is not new, but the now you have much more control over some aspects of the color-correction.

For the one who never calibrates, those are the five finished steps. That's for my two years old ibook.

Try-it, you'll adopt-it !

SuperCal™ is still much better.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

I gave it a shot against the profile I set up with SuperCal. The colors seem much more vibrant and realistic now. Good job Apple!

WOW! I just calibrated my Ti 1Ghz and I can't believe the difference! I thought the display looked awesome before, but now.....WOW! It is truly MUCH more vibrant and the whites are MUCH clearer white and even the blacks are very dark and true instead of shades of gray. Excellent results here!
