Does anyone else have this problem?

Every so often, when I am typing in Safari, for example, my machine will, for some reason, switch active status to the Finder, even though I have not intentionally switched the active program. What then happens is that, as I type, the program switches and I cannot type in Safari anymore--system error sounds result with each keystroke until I click back into Safari.

I have also had this problem with many other apps including Illustrator CS and DVD Player. In DVD Player, I will have a video playing in full screen mode when this "bug" or misconfiguration takes hold and either:

a. turns the viewer into "Normal", window size OR
b. pops the Dock up on the bottom of the screen (this happens after I changed a setting in DVD Player preferences).

Does anyone know what I can do to stop this or if it is simply a bug?

Thanks.

I had similiar problem onces. Have you tried "Ignore trackpad while typing" under Mouse & Keyboard in System Preferences? I have sweaty palm so somehow it was affected.

Let us know your findings.

I don't have the trackpad set to do anything other than to point--all of those options are not selected.

The thing is, this behavior happens when I am not even touching the computer, as in when I am watching a DVD full screen.

Thanks, but no dice...

I'm going to revise the problem:

The switch does not occur to the Finder, but it makes the active window of whatever app that I'm in not active, but stays in the same app.

This is extremely annoying.

I'm having this problem sporadically as well. I have actually noticed quite a few odd window-management things..

I also have the problem that a few (sometimes one extra, sometimes all of them) Finder windows tend to come to the front when the Finder is activated by clicking on a window (supposed to be nterleaved)

And today I was working in OmniGraffle and had the exact thing you describe, all of a sudden my current window lost focus for no apparent reason.

17" Powerbook, BTW.

THIS HASN'T BEEN FIXED YET! IT IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING AND IF ANYONE ELSE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING IT, POST YOUR SYSTEM SPECS HERE AND MAKE A NOTE TO APPLE'S OS X FEEDBACK, LIKE I DID...THRICE.

I fixed it! I was LapCop--the non-Panther version that I installed before the compatible version came out.

Just uninstall the "old" LapCop 2.0 and reinstall the Panther-ized version, available on Sweet Cocoa's web-site now.
