I was very surprised by the inclusion of the wonderful VPN configuration utility in the Internet Connection app. But I have a few question.

1) Why does apple do L2TP over IPSec? Why not just standard IPSec?

2) Does anyone have a working setup using the IPSec VPN solution to connect to an OpenBSD gateway?

Thanks!

I love that you can now have a menu bar item added, so that you can simply click it and go "Connect" - much better than the clumsy way of doing it in Jaguar.

Uh...Jaguar let you put Internet Connect in the menubar. In order to connect to your main dial-up number you just had to select the "Connect" option. I'm on a cable modem so I'm not exactly running IC. Does Panther do something Jaguar didn't do?

Ahhh no, I now have a padlock on my menu bar - I click it, select Connect, and POOF I'm on my VPN... the point being I don't even need to run Internet connect to THEN connect to a VPN.

You're talking about doing a "Connect" with the modem or airport - though with the airport they've now moved it a submenu of the network you're on .
