I had to turn OFF both SLP and SMB, and turn ON ATK (in Directory Access) in order to have the other Macs in the network show up in the "Connect to Server " browser.

Does this sound right?

You only have to turn on AppleTalk in Directory Access if you need to connect to Macs only running AppleTalk. There is no need to disable SLP or SMB. In fact, disabling SLP will prevent you from seeing Macs running TCP/IP. SMB is used for Windows machines.

Art:

Thanks for the information. I agree with the other posters on these Macnn Forums that networking in OS10.3 is very flakey. I watch the network servers come and go in the "connect to Server" browser window.

Our network is rock solid when viewed from the OS 8x-9x, 10.2x and Windows computers.
