Hi,

I just got Panther server through the door this morning and was wondering if it's possible to use the server software on a machine running Panther client. I'm waiting to get another mac to run the server, but until then it'd be nice to run the server tools.

Thanks.

You can run the "Admin Tools" from Panther Server on your Panther client...

Cool, so all I need to do is install from Disk 2?

Thanks.

Apple's documentation regarding Server says that if you install the .pkg on Disc 2, you will be upgrading your OS X Client to OS X Server. If you intend to make the client into server, that's fine. Otherwise install just the admin tools.

Sorry, that's what I meant. I did an install of server on an external firewire drive, and the admin disk is called disk 2 when it comes to installing the tools.

Thanks, I think I'll leave it until I get the other Mac, seems like it might have some problems, and I'm not really wanting to update the client version to the full server one.

Thanks for the info.
