Anybody heard of this kind of problem elsewhere? I installed the update through software update, rebooted, and ... nothing. I get the boot chime, but nothing else. Can't boot from CD either. Can anyone give me an idea of where to start troubleshooting?

Have you tried booting up with nothing but keyboard/mouse attached and any extra RAM removed?

I figured it out, I think. It had been a while since I'd completely shut down my mac and during that time, the motherboard battery had died, so the patch had nothing to do with it. . Replacing the battery returned my mac to glorious life.
