Okay, here goes -- if anyone out there can give me some advice I would appreciate it SO MUCH.

I have a dual 867 G4, running 10.2.8, 2GB RAM.

I've been having a problem with occasional kernel panics that I just can't seem to solve.

I don't have any Norton or Symantec software. I regularly run Disk Warrior. I don't have any new applications that would have triggered these kernel panics.

I've gotten to the point where I've started pulling out RAM -- I thought the one that's now sitting on my desk was the culprit, as I had gone over a week with no panics. However, last night...

I did previously have a problem with 10.2.5 and my USB hub causing panics -- but 10.2.6 seemed to fix that. It was a while before they started cropping up again.

So, is anyone out there able to decode a kernel panic log? Because this is what I got from last night. I haven't a clue what it means, other than "you had a kernel panic."

Thank you SO much in advance if anyone can help.

I have a DP867 also. Random KPs. The only thing I haven't tried is disconnecting my external FW drives. Do you have any?

Oh REALLY? That's interesting... do you have any suspects in your case?

I don't have any external FW drives -- except when I boot up my laptop in Target Disk Mode, which is not that often. Less than once a month, I'd say.

I do have a Macally 4-port USB hub.

I didn't even know what a kernel panic WAS until the whole 10.2.5 debacle. That's part of the reason I suspected my RAM -- it was around the time that I bought 2 more 512 sticks that this started happening.

The problem is that it's always been intermittent, which makes it very slow to troubleshoot by removing RAM. I've resorted to that since I don't know what else to do at this point.

The memory is always suspect if you're having a lot of KPs. I had a ton in my dual gig MDD until I went and got Crucial RAM, and now all is good.

Same here... I was pissed... cleaned the HD, did everything I could think of...

(it was actually the $20 RAM that I placed in the thing) went and purchased some inexpensive Crucial... now it's all good.

What's Crucial RAM?

I have PC2100 DDR, two from Apple & two "OEM" from Macwarehouse (I'm looking at one right now & I don't see any identifying information).

It is possible that bad RAM has corrupted key files in your OS that will still lead to KPs, even after the RAM is out.

I know its extreme, but if all else fails, pull the suspect RAM and then reinstall the OS. Then see how long it'll can go without a crash.
