What went on at the "Panther Events"?

I was at the Apple Store on 10/24 and they were getting ready for the "Panther Event" that evening when the OS was being released. The employees said they didn't even know what was going to happen at the event before it started. I was not able to stay for it. Did anyone go to one of these? What types of activities go on at these? Giveaways, presentations, etc?
