SPEECH

Since updating to Panther my Speech control in the System Prefs will not load up.If I click once on it nothing happens. When I click again it comes up for a few seconds then quits. I get an error message that says System Preferences has unexpectingly quit.
I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem or has a fix. Also I have access to 3 other Mac's with Panther and they have no problems.

first thing to try would be seeing if the problem is with one of the speech preference files. there are 4 of them i think, in home/library/preferences and they'll be called:
com.apple.speech.prefs.plist
com.apple.speech.recognition.AppleSpeechRecognitio n.prefs.plist
com.apple.speech.recognition.feedback.prefs.plist
com.apple.speech.voice.prefs.plist

try moving those out and launching the speech control panel again - you'll need to reset your settings....

Thank you for your response. I went to my wifes iMac and got the prefs and it worked after alot of hassel. The main thing I had to do was just load the com.apple.speech.prefs.plist,do not load the other pref's.
