I like iPhoto's slideshow features, including the music option, and I often use it to show photo albums to friends and family. But I don't care for iPhoto's way of organizing files. I prefer to keep my photos as I've organized them- this way it's also more portable.

Now I wouldn't mind if iPhoto kept its library folder organized it its own way as long as it didn't touch my folders. The problem is that although iPhoto does this- it actually copies the files into its own library folders, instead of making aliases to them, which, of course, doubles the disk space used. Is there anyway to make it use aliases instead or some other solution?

I think you are out of luck.

---

I have the same problem with iphoto.

I also am frustrated by how long it takes to edit Roll headings and photo headings. Also there is no way to change the info on a bunch of images at once (iphoto should learn from itunes in this dept).

Also even on my G5 my library with only 3000 photos in it is pretty slow... the beachball is my enemy. I can only imagine what this is like on an ibook.

I'm hoping 3.0 will be what 4.0 was for itunes.

Hmm. Well, I guess that's the consensus then. I'll just have to use something else till iPhoto learns a few new tricks.

I have many, many albums. It's the only way to keep iPhoto usable. I keep it running all the time because it is so slow to load, but once I have it up, it's fine.
