OK I upgraded to the newest firmware version as suggested by OWC, am I safe? Can I finally install Panther?

You are safe since only problems appear on Firewire 800 and Pismo is only 400!

Sorry but I thought that it was the actual chipset within the enclosure that fouled panther up - irregaurdless of the bus type on the computers motherboard. Eitherway, I still dont have the balls to hook up the FW drive to panther-

To all the pismo owners sitting on the fence- panther is indeed a worthy upgrade- really feels like OS 9! Scrollin g on safari now is much faster - and workload seem to be evened among apps more evenly, so the UI doesn't get hit as much - higher workloads are less noticable on Panther than jag.
