here's my question.
what's the third panther install disk for?..It never prompted me for it.

the third disc has some extra fonts (for localizations, I assume) extra Epson printer drivers and the X11 user binaries.
nothing you need for OS X, but you can select it from the custom install menu.

...and it has the "still puzzling me" QuickTime installer for OS 9....

Because Panther's Classic now prefers that you have QuickTime 6.0.3 installed in your Classic system.

Well, of course....but alas, Classic is dead...
FWIW, Finale Notepad needs that QT 6.03 update in order to function properly through OS X....
