I recently wanted to update fink. That went ok, but when I run dselect it scrambles my terminal window (I'm working in tcsh) with some strange characters and I can't see jack of what's going on. It drives me nuts because I can't read the info dselect is trying to give me about conflicts...

Has anybody else here seen this happen before? Any work-around?

I remember this in Jaguar, but it's been too long since I used Fink. The solution, I think, was to add a line to .tcsh.rc. I don't remember what it was but I think it was documented on Fink's site.

Thanks, now I finally found it. First time around at the site I must have missed it.

In case anybody else is wondering: It's here.

Enter
Code:
setenv TERM xterm-color
before running dselect.

Thanks.

Isn't xterm-color the default terminal in Panther? Check you Preferences.

I'm in Jag. At least until somebody figures out what the hell the deal is with the FW disks.

This is Jag's terminal:

Code:
[PowerBookG4:~] simon% echo $TERM vt100 [PowerBookG4:~] simon%
