I burned some audio CDs using iTunes for my car stereo but they don't play, maybe the stereo only likes CDRs and not CDRWs. So I tried erasing the CDRWs using Disk Utility and get:

'Optical Erase failed with the error:
Whole disk required, slice passed'

So now I've got useless CDs. I can't erase a CDRW now? Since when did this amazing feature appear in OSX?

Your thread title is ambiguous. Please remember to use descriptive titles on your threads.

Sorry, Xeo. Just really angry with this one. Can you possibly change the title to 'CDRW erasing problem'. Thanks.

I don't have Toast. This kind of thing should be built into the OS. You write a CDRW using OSX's feature then you should be able to erase it with the same.

First of all your "sheiße" should correctly be written Scheisse or Scheiße (N. B. uppercase S).

Secondly Disk Copy can erase CD-RW disks (menu item in the file menu).

So get your Scheisse right before you post stupid comments you bloody Vollidiot!

It's not working. That's what I"m complaining about and am looking for someone who can understand that not so user friendly error message.

You could tell Apple that you want a more understandable error message or ask in one of their discussion boards if someone can explain sliced CD-RWs.
In the meantime you might want to try a free tool like Firestarter FX to get your CD erased.

OK, so the CDRW problem in the stereo was because only CDRs work. I have to reburn all of the playlists to CDR.

I'll check Firestarter.
