I was sharing my internet connection via the standard method in jaguar without problems.
Via airport to my ibook and via ethernet to my xbox.
I upgraded to panther, and now the airport connection runs fine to the ibook but i cannot for the life of me get the xbox to detect the dns settings or ip of my imac via the ethernet cable.
There is nothing wrong with the cable as it is detected at both ends. I can ping the dynamic ip address of my ethernet port too.
I am 99% sure this is a similar problem to the firewall problem I also had with the upgrade, which was simply resolved by entering the terminal and resetting the firewall manually.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It would seem that my imac is not automatically assigning an ip address to the client connected to my ethernet port.
I have tried rebooting both machines, taking the firewall up and down, stopping and starting internet sharing again.
I know its limited to the ethernet port as the airport client has worked beautifully the whole time.
