Wierd Huh?
If num lock is on on a Powerbook keyboard, you only get the keys that would be normally available on the keypad.
Which is:
Code:
/ * -
7 8 9 +
4 5 6
1 2 3
0 .
Notice the little numbers on the 7 8 9 0 U I O P J K L M keys...

After Panther, my "num lock" doesn't work anymore. Using the white Pro keyboard.

God, I feel naive. Instead of assuming it was a Panther issue, I figured it was just my keyboard going bad. Glad this is now a known issue, as my Num Lock key on the white Apple Pro keyboard is also dead.

Hi!
I've got PowerMac 1,25GHz (pretty new) and I have been wondering what the NumLock key is for on the Mac, it doesn't seem to have any function at all (Apple Pro Keyboard, Jaguar and Panther).

OK let's kill some confusion:
On a non-PowerBook/iBook keyboard, "Num Lock" is primarily the "Clear" key (for example, in Calculator). Note that it is labeled as Clear, with Num Lock in very small letters.
In some very few apps, Num Lock is a key that is simply passed on to the application (most Mac apps ignore it). What its usage is, for apps that DO use it, is app-specific.
On PowerBook/iBook keyboards, the Num Lock key gives you a pseudo-numeric keypad -- the second set of (also very small) letters printed on some of the keys.
