hey. i just switched over a month ago and love the OS so far. i've had 10.2.8 for the past month and installed panther last night.
one small annoyance i've found is that whenever i search through various message boards such as MacNN, when i read through a thread and then hit the back key to go back to the original search results, i get a pop up that says...
"Are you sure you want to send a form again?
To reopen this page, the form you completed to open the page the first time must be sent again. This may cause the website to repeat actions it took the first time you sent the form."
It will then re-search for all the threads relating to my input.
is there anyway i can change the settings on this? i know in windows, if u hit the back key it will just take u straight to the search result.
i would really appreciate any help on this.
thanks,
amish

first, congrats on switching.
second, this issue belongs in the software forum.
third, what browser are you using?
Different browsers have different behaviors when you hit the "back" button. OmniWeb has instant-back functionality most of the time (though it has to reload pages with javascript elements in order for those elements to work). I just tested OW and it goes "back" to a search results page without reposting the form data.
If you're using Safari, or Camino and they insist on reposting the form data, a solution might be to use tabs to keep the search results page constantly open (check your preferences and then command-click on the links in the search results page to open those links in new tabs)
If you're using IE, stop using IE.

I'm sure everybody using safari has this "problem" - but it's not really so much a problem as how the browser works.
When you have a dynamically generated web page that depends on the form data submitted for its content, it necessarily needs to repost the data to regenerate the page.
The only way around that is if (as OmniWeb does) the browser has cached the page, which apparently Safari won't do, and possibly for good reason.
