After i installed Panther i bought a DVD drive and installed it. But now i can't find the Apple DVD player. Did Panther not install it cause i didn't have the drive at the time of the install? How can i install it now?

Grab a copy of Pacifist from http://www.charlessoft.com/. You can then use it to extract the DVD Player application from your Mac OS X install CDs. I'm not sure what package the file will be in, so you may need to look around a bit to find it.
